Former Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants tight end Darren Waller has announced his decision to retire from football. The 2020 Pro Bowl selectee enjoyed a couple of highly promising seasons earlier in his career but has since struggled to recapture that form amidst recurring hamstring injuries that have kept him out of the spotlight.
Talking about his decision to leave football for good, Waller noted it’s “a whole lot of money” to leave behind but feels that this is an opportunity to make a decision that feels right to him, rather than continue along a path that simply serves to please others.

What Waller ends up doing next remains to be seen, but he claims he now has an opportunity to “take back the power” in his life. Notably, one of his biggest passions outside of football is music, and this is something that he’s been actively pursuing for some time.
Waller’s recent release – Who Knew (Her Perspective) – has already amassed over 400,000 views on YouTube in just two weeks. However, he now has a two-part song set for release, with the titles Choose Wisely and Farewell, that reportedly focus on his retirement from football.
With much more of the world now open to him, Waller has decided to keep his social group small. Following his retirement, he has changed his phone number, and only a select few are privileged enough to have the new one.
