Fans of the hit 1996 comedy movie Happy Gilmore will be interested to learn that Happy Gilmore 2 is now in the works and will be brought to screens by Netflix.
As things stand, there’s no official release date for the movie, but Adam Sandler is set to reprise his role as Happy, the bad-tempered ice hockey player who turns to golf to earn enough cash to get his grandmother’s house back.
What we know so far is that filming will start in just a few weeks, with shooting taking place in New Jersey. Speaking on The Tonight Show, Sandler noted, “It’s good. We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anybody down. People have been asking me for a long time. We’re really excited about it. We wrote our asses off. So many of the golfers are being nice and will be a part of it”.
Sandler went on to confirm that several professional golfers will be involved with the movie, but there’s one scheduled cameo that’s caught the eyes of fans in particular – football superstar Travis Kelce.
Reportedly, the Kansas City Chiefs legend is a massive fan of the original movie and Sandler had a lot of great things to say about him, noting, “We have a nice something for Travis. He's gonna come by. He's a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny”.
This news will undoubtedly put a huge smile on Kelce’s face, with the star recently admitting on his New Heights podcast that he’d “do anything” to be involved with the sequel.
