Three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe has found himself red-faced following an incident in which the 56-year-old appeared to post a video to Instagram on Wednesday of him having sex. In the video, a woman was heard making intimate noises and repeatedly referred to the former Denver Broncos star by his first name. 

As the video was clipped and started to be shared and seen by people all over social media platforms, Sharpe quickly sought to remedy the incident by releasing an Instagram Story in which he claimed to have been “hacked this morning” and that he and his team were trying to figure it out.

Although lots of people found a funny side to the situation, there was certainly plenty of criticism too. One comment noted the hypocrisy of Sharpe seemingly having posted a live sex video to Instagram during the day after having jokingly criticised Nightcap co-host Chad Johnson for being unprofessional.  

Despite Sharpe’s initial suggestion that his account had been hacked, he has since admitted it was him in the video. Reportedly, the incident occurred because he accidentally pressed the button to go live due to his lack of technical know-how. Sharpe noted, “I'm embarrassed for a number of reasons. People count on Shannon to be professional, even when I'm behind closed doors. 'I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act. There are millions and billions of people of consenting age who participate in activities”. Sadly, he also suggested the incident had made him cry.
