After winning their first game of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, things have quickly started to unravel for the Miami Dolphins.
The team were seriously outplayed by the Buffalo Bills in a 31-10 loss that also saw superstar quarterback Tua Tagovailoa forced to leave the field with a third professional concussion that could pave the way for his early retirement.
However, things have now gone from bad to worse for the Dolphins. This time, the team was embarrassed by a 3-24 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks away from home. Nevertheless, that wasn’t the worst thing about the game, with backup quarterback Skylar Thompson suffering from an injury that ended his night.
Following the game, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Thompson had suffered from a painful chest injury. He was also asked about the overall team performance and noted, “You have to look at everything and you have to find a way to give your team the best chance to win. I think in 2022, this was something that happened to us as well and ultimately the rest of the league does not care, nor should they. So, we have to find a way to get better collectively”.
Despite the above, many will be worried about Thompson’s injury. In the third quarter, he was sacked by Tyler Dodson and hunched over in discomfort. However, he was then shoved by Dre’Mont Jones and was unable to get up and return to action. The concerning thing here is that the Dolphins may now need to rely on Tim Boyle while their quarterback depth is tested.
