Trevor Lawrence is no stranger to injuries, with the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback already struggling with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. However, there’s no doubt he’ll be feeling frustrated by what has happened since Sunday night’s 23-20 loss against the Houston Texans.
During the game, Lawrence was smashed in the head by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, which left onlookers concerned about potential serious damage. Despite being seen walking from the stadium later, Lawrence has now been placed on injured reserve, which will reportedly see him miss the rest of the season. Of course, the Jaguars only have 5 games remaining and Lawrence must miss at least four, so this isn’t much of a surprise, but fans are also wondering whether he’ll take this opportunity to have corrective shoulder surgery while out of action.
Al-Shaair has since been suspended for three games for his illegal hit on Lawrence, with the league deeming him to have repeatedly broken safety rules. However, this won’t mean much to Lawrence, who played 10 games for the Jaguars this season while throwing for 2,045 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.
Of course, the great news for Lawrence is that he has already signed a five-year contract extension with the organization that’s worth a staggering $265 million. However, this won’t be of much use to the team when it’s already struggling to make an impact. As things stand, the Jaguars are now on a five-game losing streak and have registered just two wins this season.
