Basketball fans around the world were collectively shocked over the weekend when details surrounding an unexpected trade surfaced online. Notably, this trade involved the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks, with Luke Doncic heading to the former and Anthony Davis moving in the opposite direction.

However, it seems it wasn’t only fans kept in the dark about this headline-news trade, with suggestions now being made that even Doncic, Davis, and Lakers star LeBron James had no clue it was going to happen.

Following the announcement, there has been a lot of discussion online about why this trade would happen in the first place, and what it could mean for the future of both players. However, Doncic’s father, Sasa, has since let the world know what he thinks of the way his son has been allegedly treated by the Mavericks. Speaking to Arena Sport 1 in Slovenia, Sasa noted, “I understand there comes a moment when you disagree with a certain philosophy. You don’t like this or that player, all good – I get it. But I think that exactly this secrecy, or should I say from some individuals, maybe even hypocrisy. This hurts me personally. Because I think that Luka absolutely doesn’t deserve this. I am saying again, one individual said he’s not fit enough. That he played, I don’t know, 100 games – practically 40 minutes with two or three players constantly on him. That he was beaten, and you say such things about him. I feel that this is very unfair from certain individuals. You traded him, stand by your actions but don’t look for excuses or alibis, that’s it”.
