The Indiana Pacers managed to secure their place in the NBA Finals on Saturday when they managed to defeat the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference.
They managed to record a 125-108 victory to win the series 4-2 in Game 6 with the help of Pascal Siakam, as he managed to score 31 points. It was a performance that helped him to be crowned the East Finals MVP.
When it came to the voting, he managed to outscore teammate Tyrese Haliburton with five of the nine votes that were made. Haliburton had received the other four.
Siakam’s Experience Proves Beneficial
While the team benefited from plenty of youth, Siakam’s experience came to the forefront, as he was the force that helped them to get over the line. The three-time All-Star had managed to average a total of 24.8 points over the series, with a 52.4% shooting success rate.
“It’s been such an amazing experience for me so far. From the first day I landed her, the love has been amazing,” he said after winning the Larry Bird Trophy.
The Pacers will now need Siakam to provide his experience and expertise on the basketball court once again, as they will face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder and MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the NBA Finals, which begin on Thursday.
The Thunder are considered the favorites to win this season’s top prize, having managed to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-1 following their Game 5 124-94 victory, in which SGA had scored 34 points and a further 22 were recorded by Chet Holmgren.
