It’s official – the Phoenix Suns have done what they set out to do, with reports suggesting Devin Booker has agreed to commit his long-term future to the organization.
Devin Booker’s New Deal
Sources suggest Booker has signed a two-year contract extension with the Suns, which will keep him on the roster through 2030.
The deal is worth $145 million, which was the maximum sum the Suns could give him, following his recent four-year $224 supermax extension that still has three seasons remaining.
Mat Ishbia’s Admiration
It was never a secret that the Suns wanted to keep Booker around. Franchise owner Mat Ishbia was recently asked about whether Booker could be traded, and responded, “Never happen. It's silly. So, here's what I'll tell you. I have Devin Booker in the prime. In order to win an NBA championship, you got to have a superstar. You got to have a great player”.
Booker’s Love for Phoenix
Booker has also spoken about his delight at being a part of a Phoenix organization and surrounding areas, as well as wanting to deliver success, noting, “take pride in the community in Phoenix, the people that have supported me since I was 18 when things were ugly. And the people that are with us, we just fell short of accomplishing what we want. So, I want to do it, and I want to do it here. That's the responsibility of being a franchise player, and I wear that with honor. So, it might not look the most pretty right now, but we got to get it done and I'm going to do it.
