Following a short but traumatic ordeal, Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was released from a Los Angeles County jail on Monday afternoon. He’d been there for three days after being arrested and charged with weapons violations.
However, it has now been confirmed that L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman declined to pursue charges, which means Perryman is now free to get back to his daily routine with the Chargers.
On a recent social media post by Daiyan Henley, Perryman noted, “I’m home, baby”.
Perryman’s Arrest
Perryman’s arrest occurred on August 1 at around 9:30 p.m., with South Los Angeles Station deputies pulling him over for alleged vehicle code violations. At that time, Perryman’s car was searched, and officers reportedly found five firearms, with two of those being assault-style, and then arrested him. Perryman was subsequently charged with weapons violations.
Harbaugh Reacts
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh later addressed the situation with Perryman, noting, “He's working through the legalities, along with his representation. Had the chance to see him yesterday. Went over and visited. He was in good spirits. Love Denzel. He's always done right. He's never done wrong. He's got a beautiful family. We're just letting the due process play out”.
Perryman’s Agent Responds
Following his release, Perryman’s agent, Ron Butler provided a statement, reading, “The charges have been dismissed, and we're grateful the matter has been resolved. At this time, Denzel is focused on getting back to his family and teammates”.
