The Michigan Wolverines are preparing to kickstart their season, and players are now being informed about their roles for the upcoming season. Bryce Underwood is the latest to have discovered he’s set for a big campaign, with the freshman set to become the team’s starting quarterback.
Underwood to Start
Underwood has a lot of hype surrounding him following an impressive high school career. He won two state championships with Belleville and won a staggering 38 consecutive games during that period.
Having been considered ESPN’s No. 1 overall recruit this year following his move from LSU to Michigan, there were a lot of expectations surrounding his upcoming season. Notably, he’s earned the starting role over Mikey Keene, with Davis Warren currently out of contention while he recovers from a torn ACL.
Andrew Ivins on Underwood
Scoring director Andrew Ivins has had a lot of positive things to say about Underwood so far. He recently suggested he “projects as a multi-year impact player for a College Football Playoff contender that has a chance to eventually emerge as a first-round pick in the NFL Draft with his tools. Might need a semester or two to find his footing, but the ability to hunt big plays and distribute on the move could be hard to keep off the field even if he’s still learning how to dissect complex defenses”.
Underwood on Aspirations
Underwood was recently asked about his expectations for the season and suggested, “Just to shock the world. They’ve seen a lot of freshmen, but I feel like nobody has seen a freshman like me”.
