When it comes to strange collaborations, some are almost guaranteed to raise a few eyebrows. A great example of this is the relationship between Donald Trump and Dana White. On paper, most wouldn’t see them as a match of characters, but the former U.S. President and UFC boss go way back and seem to agree on a lot of political points.
Trump is no stranger to spending time with White, with the soon-to-be official Republican nominee making plenty of appearances at UFC events over the last few years. However, the newest collaboration between the two will see White take the stage to introduce Trump at the Republican National Convention.
Whether you agree with his politics or not, this seems like a decent choice for Trump. White has a lot of fans throughout the U.S., thanks to his hugely successful mixed martial arts venture, so will be a popular figure to have at his side. Furthermore, White is also perfectly able to hype up a crowd, which we’ve seen at UFC press conferences over the years, as well as the blockbuster event that saw Conor McGregor take to the boxing ring to face Floyd Mayweather Jr.
However, what many may have forgotten is that White has already taken on a similar role before when he spoke on Trump’s behalf at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Back then, White noted his appreciation for Trump because he backed the UFC back in 2001 when state athletic commissions refused to do so.
