Baltimore Ravens fans are feeling somewhat concerned about Lamar Jackson right now and understandably so. The 27-year-old two-time NFL Most Valuable Player joined the Ravens for their training camp on Sunday but was forced to leave the field early.
Commenting on the incident, ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted “After missing the first three days of training camp, Lamar Jackson left the field midway through Wednesday’s workout. He looked weary while walking across the field and into the team facility, and he was not feeling well”.
So, what was the issue with Jackson that caused him to leave? It appears he felt unwell while splitting snaps with quarterback Josh Johnson, but offensive coordinator Todd Monken doesn’t seem too concerned right now. Speaking about this incident, he noted “It’s great having him back today, but I don’t feel behind. We didn’t stop. We are still going through the install. We are going to work him back in, for sure. You’ll have to ask him how he feels. But he was great in meetings. When we were on the field at the start, he said he was feeling good”.
Of course, these words didn’t seem to calm down a section of the Ravens' support base, with some taking to social media to discuss Jackson. One fan suggested the illness might be “something serious”, while another criticized Jackson’s apparent weight loss. However, one of the more scathing comments argued “He is never going to be that guy! Thank goodness. I thought he was going to go to another LvL. I was wrong. Fraud!”.
Nevertheless, all will be forgotten if Jackson can get himself back on the field in time for the season and put in performances worthy of his MVP title.
