Things are becoming increasingly interesting surrounding the Dallas Cowboys right now. It’s fair to say the team didn’t perform as well as they’d have hoped throughout the season and ended up with a disappointing 7-10 record with no place in the playoffs.
Following this, it was announced that head coach Mike McCarthy would be vacating his role, meaning this offseason is set to be a period of significant change for the franchise. Reports suggest this decision was made after the parties could not agree on a new contract.
Of course, this move has kickstarted speculation about who will come in and take over as head coach of the Cowboys. One name that simply won’t go away right now is Deion Sanders, but that’s hardly surprising considering he played for the franchise between 1995-99 and became a Super Bowl champion and was named to the Pro Bowl four times during that stint.
What has made this link more interesting is that a fresh report from Cowboys insider Ed Werder suggests Coach Prime would be keen to accept the job. He went on to suggest, “I’m being told that he would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next Cowboys head coach, that those around him are encouraging him to pursue it and that Jones is enamored with the idea.
For now, this is all just speculation, but it’s safe to say it’s unlikely to go away anytime soon unless Sanders commits his future elsewhere or the Cowboys make an official move for an alternative.
