Former University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons following his arrest by the Ann Arbor Police Department. Robinson was reportedly taken into custody after being involved in a single-car crash, with police officers suspecting him of operating while intoxicated. As things stand, potential charges against Robinson are pending toxicology results.
Having played for Michigan between 2009 at 2012, Robinson later went on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Legends before becoming a coach for the Jacksonville University and the Jaguars. He has since become Assistant Director of Player Personnel for Michigan and has held this position since 2022.
Robinson’s Future with Michigan
Following news about Robinson’s arrest and suspected involvement in an operating while intoxicated incident, Michigan has acted quickly to announce his indefinite suspension. Of course, should he be cleared of any wrongdoing, Robinson would be expected to return to his position quickly.
However, it’s important to note that recently hired defensive line coach Greg Scruggs was also arrested for operating while intoxicated in March and was suspended by Michigan before resigning shortly after admitting his wrongdoing.
If there’s any positive to take from this story it’s that there have seemingly been no injuries because of the incident. Nevertheless, if Robinson is found guilty of any pending charges related to the case, he has nobody but himself to blame if his career quickly comes crashing down. For now, we’ll need to wait for the toxicology results.
